Last summer Golovchenko and Nilov embarked on a adventurous mission to achieve the first ascent of the southeast
peak of the 7925-meter Gasherbrum IV. During their climb Golovchenko unfortunately fell from an altitude of 7684 meters, resulting in his sudden death. In an unusual feat of endurance Nilov managed to fall safely. Unfortunately, Golovchenko’s body could not be recovered at the time.
